Dr. Tobin Watkinson

Dr. Tobin Watkinson has been in practice for thirty-three years and at Scripps Medical Offices for the past eleven years. Dr. Watkinson grew up in Newport, Rhode Island, where his father was an innovative health practitioner who developed a practice incorporating natural and holistic healing methods. Dr. Watkinson's brother, Bill, continues that practice in Newport.
Dr. Watkinson graduated from Trinity University with a degree in Experimental and Physiological Psychology. For eight years, Dr. Watkinson worked as a research psychologist for the Aerospace Medicine Research Laboratory, the Flight Dynamics Laboratory, and the Human Performance Laboratory at McDonnell Douglas Astronautics.
As a continuation of his education, Dr. Watkinson completed his Doctorate in Chiropractic, earned a Board Certification in Clinical Thermography, Acupuncture, and a Board Certification in Clinical Nutrition from the International and American Board of Clinical Nutrition.
Dr. Watkinson is the past president and vice-president of the International and American Association of Clinical Nutritionists. He served on the Price Pottenger Nutritional Foundation and is on the International Foundation of Health and Nutrition Advisory Board. He is the author of numerous articles and research papers on health matters, has appeared in many videos, and has made several television appearances. Dr. Watkinson was also the host of The Health Detective, a radio show in sixty cities.
His clinical interests have focused on the complexly ill and those with metabolic disorders. With training and degrees in psychology, nutrition, ergonomics, acupuncture, chiropractic, neuroscience, and environmental illness, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the treatment room. He is truly the health detective.
Dr. Watkinson maintains a practice in La Jolla, Ca (San Diego) and a second office in San Juan Capistrano.
